Voicing her opinion on the recent illegal immigrant law in Arizona, Shakira was spotted in Phoenix to attend a protest.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress met with youth at a community center, and also got together with Phoenix mayor Phil Gorden to discuss the new legislation.
Shakira said she’s afraid that the new law, requiring immigrants to prove their citizenship if stopped by police, is unfair and potentially racist.
"In my opinion it dulls human and civil rights of citizens and non-citizens. I am here as a Latina that believes in opportunity for all. We are concerned about the implementation of the law and the consequences it can have on the working families."
