After months of tracking down the perfect actress, Rooney Mara has landed the main character role in the upcoming film “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”
The “Nightmare on Elm Street” babe will star as Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling novel.
Ms Mara was chosen over some tough competition- Natalie Portman, Kristen Stewart, Scarlett Johansson, Carey Mulligan, Emma Watson, among others were all being considered for the coveted role.
Rooney can first be seen in the upcoming movie “The Social Network” which is the story about the founders of Facebook. The film hits theaters October 1, 2010.
