It comes as no surprise that, thanks to the success of 2008's
90210remake, a
Melrose Placealso got in the works. The first person to be formally attached to the show, Katie Cassidy won the part of Ella Flynn, a character inspired by Heather Locklear's famous role on the original series. Katie Cassidy is also rumored to be starring as Lucy Ewing in the 2010 film
Dallas, based on the former TV series, a role that Jessica Simpson apparently was hoping to land. Until then, we'll be content seeing a lot more of Katie Cassidy as a resident of our favorite fictional apartment complex.
