You’d never know by looking at her now, but Brooke Burke used to be quite the tomboy. A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Burke was raised in Tucson, Arizona where she spent her childhood helping to fulfill her father’s need for a son. “I played football, I collected matchbox cards and I grew up watching [sports] with my dad,” she says. “We even built model airplanes and model cars together. I did all the things that my dad would have done with the son that he never had.”
